Your parsed text, not a generic checklist
Advice like "save as plain text and look at it" is a good start. This does it for you and points at the problems: the parsed-text view shows your file in the order a simple parser reads it, marks which standard sections were recognized, and flags when two columns are merged into one line. For a closer look, use the resume scanner.
Fixes ranked by points
Every finding says what is wrong, where, and what to change, with the number of points it costs. Fix the top one first. Bullets get their own verdicts: a missing number, a weak opening like "Responsible for", or stock wording. See every rule and its points.
Your gap against the job description
Paste the job description to see which skills and tools the job mentions, which ones your resume already covers and which are missing. Add only what you really have, inside a bullet that shows how you used it. More on the job description match page.
ATS formatting rules that break parsing
- Columns and tables. Many parsers read straight across the page and mix up side-by-side text.
- Icons and skill bars. Phone, mail and star icons are often dropped or turned into junk characters.
- Contact details in headers or footers. Some systems skip them. Keep them in the first lines of the body.
- Unusual section names. "Where I've been" is harder to map than "Experience".
- Images. Text inside a picture can't be read.
ATS CV checker
The same checks run on a CV. Headings such as "Work History" and "Education and Training" are recognized. For a general format and content check, use the resume and CV checker.

FAQ
How do I check what an ATS reads from my resume?
Upload your PDF or DOCX above. The parsed-text view shows the plain text in reading order and which sections were recognized, so you can see anything that was lost or merged.
Is this the same as a real ATS score?
No. Every employer's system is different. The score simulates common parsing and keyword rules, and every lost point is tied to a specific line or layout problem you can fix.
Do I need a job description?
No. Adding one turns on the keyword gap, so you can see which skills the job asks for that your resume doesn't mention.
PDF or DOCX: which is better for ATS?
Both usually work with a simple one-column layout. Avoid tables, text boxes, columns, icons and contact details in headers or footers.
Is my resume uploaded or stored?
No. Your file is read in your browser and this prototype runs every check on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, stored or used to train models.
Does it cost anything?
Checks, your score, the top 5 fixes and the parsed-text view cost nothing and need no account. Pro features are marked with a lock.
